“No one who cooks, cooks alone. Even at her most solitary, a cook in the kitchen is surrounded by generations of cooks past, the advice and menus of cooks present, the wisdom of cookbook writers.”
– Laurie Colwin
Cooking has always been one of my mother's biggest passions. My siblings and I grew up eating delicious food from all over the world and we all inherited her passion for cooking and enjoying great meals. Our family conversations are very food-centric and we all have a special talent for finding amazing restaurants no matter where we are in the world.
My mother has always dreamed of having her own cookbook and a few years ago we decided to make it happen. We all helped her select the recipes for her book and gave her a template for her to fill. She tested and wrote all 100 of them. I designed the book while my sister did the editing. In 2020, we finally finished the first digital edition, which we gave as a surprise present to our mother for her 70th birthday.
The next step, once the pandemic allows us, will be to meet up to cook and photograph many of her wonderful dishes to add to the book.
